This past weekend I had the honor of helping one of my besties throw a garden party for the anniversary of her mother’s passing. Barbara was one in a million! I plan on telling you more about Barbara in another upcoming post, so keep your eyes open for that one. I promise you won’t want to miss it.
The scene for the party was set on the grounds of the family home. The historical white two-story house in the Broken Arrow Rose District was a beautiful backdrop for the white table linens and white chairs. Choosing a theme for the party was easy. Barbara loved to garden and had been featured in newspapers and magazines for her green thumb. Barbara had the most vibrant of personalities so pops of orange and yellow was chosen as the color scheme. Barbara just loved to entertain! Her spirit was definitely on the more organic side so tiny unkept wildflowers were the centerpiece for the table. We placed all 4 tables end to end down the center of the brick lined driveway in a country farmhouse style. Community was important to Barbara and I think she would have approved of the family style seating. Art was also near and dear to Barbara, so we decided to pull some artwork into the yard in small seating vignettes. As the guests arrived they were greeted by a chair reserved for Barbara at the head of the table. A thoughtful neighbor took a hint from the beautiful invitation and made a gorgeous flower arrangement with the initials BBK written on a chalkboard card hanging on the vase. We promptly placed it in the chair honoring Barbara. 😉 It was kismet! I love it when unplanned things just fall into place!
Barbara would often bring you a little cup of something something. You never knew what it might be! She was quite the hostess even if you just dropped in. We couldn’t resist these funny mugs we found online.
Beautiful cookies and equally as yummy!
Honored guest chair.
